Max Your Milez

On this page we are collecting additional information on how to best redeem your miles on award flights. The calculator allows you to compare the published rates across the various frequent flyer programs but we can't automate all the exceptions, bonus offers and specials that the frequent flyer programs make available, especially since many of them are time limited offers. Some of the promotions sometimes represent significant savings and need to be considered when you look at the redemption rates.

We will make an effort here to include as much of this information as possible. These items will also be listed with every frequent flyer program on the system, when you click on the info button in the search results.

Please let us know if you know of any promotions that we could list here.
Past promotions are listed in our Max Your Milez Archive.

To start a cross-program calculation and comparison, use the widget in the right hand side bar. If you are looking for suggested destinations for your miles, try our suggestion engine.

Strategies for Getting Free Flights

Scoring free flights is not reserved to only those people who have millions of frequent miles. Using your smarts and a few simple strategies may very well get you on many flights for free. Especially if your travel plans are flexible you have a very good chance of getting bumped and reimbursed for your troubles. If you play your cards right (e.g. book flights on busy routes and be prepared to be rerouted through alternative airports) there is a number of strategies that could prove very effective.

On Scott Ford describes how he was able to take 52 vacations last year — for free. And the following current article from gives you eleven travel tips on how you might be able to fly for free:

Study on Miles Redemption

Generally speaking value-oriented airlines have much better award seat availability than the full-fare carriers. In a study done by Switchfly, frequent flyer programs like topbonus (air berlin, NIKI) and Rapid Rewards (Southwest Airlines) showed excellent seat availability for frequent flyer program members.

The study also looked at trends and indicates that member rewards are getting better across the board. Two full fare programs that were singled out for their improved seat availability were Executive Club (British Airways) and United Mileage Plus.
